A while back, I was contacted by the executive producer of Danish Radio’s ensembles to ask if I was up for singing two operas with the Symphony Orchestra. I am a self-taught musician and don’t really read music, but I like the challenge of stepping out of my comfort zone, so I said yes since the compositions were so beautiful to me.
I was blown away by Rasmus Zwicki’s arrangements for the tunes, and I am very proud of the end result of our collaboration.
Today we release the first of two videos made for the recordings, “When I’m Laid in Earth” a song from Didos opera, by Henry Purcell from the 1600s.
I will perform this tune along with John Dowland’s “In Darkness Let Me Dwell” along with two of my own compositions, with brand new arrangements by Rasmus Zwicki in DR’s Concert House, Studio 2, on the 5th of November. The concert will broadcasted live on P2’s radio program “Natsværmeren.”
